*"Maybe it was all a dream? Maybe I'll wake up and everything will be normal again."

Ruka's eyes slowly flickered open to be greeted by unfamiliar surroundings. She slowly sat up and looked around the room she was in. Where was she? Who brought her here? All she knew was that being there meant that no matter how much she wished, everything that has happened recently, had really happened.

She slowly got up from the bed, steadying herself from a short dizzy spell before moving towards the door. She listened by it for any noises, then slowly opened it.

The hallway it brought her into she did recognize. This was Juudai and Asuka's apartment. So Juudai must of brought her here? Quietly she walked down the hallway until she got to a slightly open door on her left. Looking through the small gap, she could see Juudai sat in the living room, working on his laptop. Ruka didn't want to disturb him. After all, she's probably caused him enough trouble already.

Slowly and quietly, Ruka opened the front door and snuck out of it. When outside, she was about to run across the courtyard to her apartment when a thought hit her. Did she really belong there anymore? Is that even her home now? She really wasn't sure... and holding herself up in it again wouldn't be a good idea anyway.

Ruka leaned against the wall beside the entrance to Juudai's apartment and slid down until she was sitting. Pulling her legs to her chest, she buried her face in them.

She had honestly never felt so lost and so ashamed of herself as she did at this moment.

Looks like she could use someone to talk to!.*

When I was younger I was quite weak and sickly, so my brother and I were home-schooled. Our parents were often away for work, so it was up to my brother to look after me. I often felt like I was burdening him.
But here, we were able to attend school for the first time.

On top of that, spirits aren't solid where I come from. In fact, they're not all that well known at all. Most people probably wouldn't believe in them, or give them a second thought.
Here... I'm around them all the time. I can work with them, I can LEARN about them. I want to study them and their connections to people.
I've decided I want to research them for a living.

But... I wouldn't be able to do that where I originally came from.

*he thinks he can kinda see why this would be hard entirely. Why she would have had to make that kind of choice, no matter what. Between a life you had where your family is, and a life where you can do what you aspire for...*

... I think it's at least admirable. That you would want to learn about them so much. That you do have a chance to do things like going to school.

I can see why you would resent something though, for doing this to you. It's great you're able to do something you have wanted to do, but... it isn't the same without your brother, is it?

*Ruka nods a little.*

My brother and I have always been close and he's always been the one there to protect me. As far as I was concerned, as long as I was with him, no matter where it was, that's where my "family" would be.

He wasn't just my brother, but my best friend and my hero who helped look out for me.

I don't know how I'm going to cope without him here.

*You can clearly see her eyes tear up at the end and that she's trying very hard not to cry as she quickly wipes the tears away from her eyes with her hands.*

*he feels a little bit bad about that*

... Well... At the least, if you were able to come here in the first place... Maybe there is a way to be able to be with him again?

Something like that cannot be unique just to that "Crimson Dragon", after all.

I guess, but right now I have no way to be able to find him.

I don't really know for sure if the Crimson Dragon did send them back... or if it just sent them somewhere else.

... Is there any way I can help?

*Ruka shakes her head a little.*

Thanks, but right now, I don't think anyone is able to do anything.

Mm... Well, at the least, you have your spirits and people who care about you here too, right?

At least you're not entirely alone. ... *he rubs his head* I'm sorry if I'm being kinda invasive, though. I'm not very used to talking to a lot of people. Most of the ones I used to know usually thought me as being crazy for saying that my cards could talk to me.

Yeah, you're right. I'm not completely alone here, at least.

*She then looks up at Shinji and gives him a small smile.*

It's okay, you aren't being invasive.
At the least... if there's anyone you want to talk to about spirits, well, I like talking about them and hearing things about them a lot.

*smiles*

I'd like that sometime, yeah.

*Ruka continues to smile a little and nods at him in agreement. She may of said that no one could really help her right now, but from the look on her face, it seems Shinji has at least helped her to feel at least a little better.*

*well, he feels at least a bit relieved by that!* ... -- oh, right. *looks as though he just remembered something* Do you know where that... Yuuki lives? I wanted to talk to him about something too.

Juudai?

*Ruka looks at the apartment behind her.*

He lives right here.

Oh! That's convenient. *he rubs his head* I knew it was somewhere in here... Thank you.

*he smiles a bit, heading for the door*

I'm going to go get that taken care of then, alright? I hope I'll be able to talk to you again, soon.

*Ruka smiles back and nods*

I hope so too.

And... thank you.

*he nods back, and well. as awkward as it is, he enters into the apartment, mainly since he figures that Ruka would probably be as well an invite as anything.

He does however knock on the door/wall to whatever room Juudai is in.*

*Who's that knocking on the living room door?? Juudai looks up at the slightly ajar door, seeing a figure through the slight gap, but not enough to see who it is.*

You can come in.

*he comes in, looking a bit awkward*

Ah... Hello, Yuuki. Sorry I'm intruding like this...

Shinji!

Ah, no. That's okay! Feel free to sit down!

*He motions towards one of the chairs in the room, before placing the laptop he was working on, on the table in front of him.*

*he nods, getting a chair and sitting down, and getting out a small metallic case-- notably a different colored one than the one he had originally put Galaxy Queen into, putting it onto the table*

She talked to me.

*Juudai reaches over and picks up the case to look inside it.*

She said... That she was interested in my connection with spirits, but implied that it might not work due to differences it had from Ruka's own connection to spirits. She also said she and all of the other Numbers are criminals, or were considered so dangerous that they had to be locked up.

She said they were all scattered when they did escape, and that the "most dangerous one of them all" was trying to gather them all. Ruka's ability apparently would have made that goal much simpler for all of them.

They're criminals? Urgh, great. At least this confirms they are dangerous though.

But they needed Ruka because of her ability? *Juudai thinks.* Well, she does have an incredibly strong connection to not just the spirits, but to their world as well. What could their goal be after being gathered? Do they just want to go back to the spirit world, or something else?

That might explain it... I feel like if it were a case of them wanting to go back to the world of spirits, they should have been able to convince to get assistance much better than they have been.

No, chances are... They have something else in mind.

You're right. They have to be up to something to go to these lengths...

I'm just glad we were able to get Galaxy Queen away from her. Though it could mean that she might be in danger from the other Numbers that are out there, if her power is desirable to them...
