Event

*It's a wonderful warm day in May and Ruka is sat outside, under a tree, on either the Academy Island or in the park in Domino City. She looks to be hard at work though, as she mulls over some books she has with her, occasionally jotting down notes in a notebook. On closer inspection, the books appear to be theories on time travel, as well as history books.
Feel free to bother her about this or something completely different!*

Not a common occurrence... no... but... it has happened.

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-02 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
... I needed to make sure, at least.

Is the rare occurrence why you are researching into this?

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-02 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

... I hold a rather strong interest in time travel, myself. Which is why I find it interesting that someone else shares any interest at all.

It can be a rather convoluted subject matter, after all.

Really? You're interested in time travel? What do you know about it? Specifically, what do you know about it's possible impacts on a time line, if someone was sent back in time, possibly even to a different timeline to their own.

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
... I know that a timeline can handle only so many impacts to it, before it becomes fractured off into a completely different timeline.

It is in order to avoid the paradox of one's own existence. If one goes into the past, and then changes too much to the world, they risk their own existence occurring in the future. That is why, instead, the future that an individual might originate from fractures off from the timeline that was created as a result of actions.

However, the idea that one might have been sent back to a different past, than their own... *he seems a bit contemplative on that*

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
*Ruka, however, seems more fixed on his explanation*

So... it IS possible for a timeline to branch off and become a different timeline if things are messed with too much?

*She seems a little unsettled with that*

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
... Yes, generally.

Sometimes, it is unavoidable. It is best to try to minimize the changes done by one's presence, or to plan such interference carefully.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I see...
...I don't think things could ever of been planned carefully...

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Time, like I said, is a convoluted subject matter. It is difficult to tell what might be too much, when affecting the past. It is difficult to assume when too much may have changed.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you're right. I sorta wish I knew for sure though...

If something like that happened... I assume the timeline the person came from would be safe, right? Nothing would happen to it?

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Generally, it would be. A majority of the time, the timeline would be fractured and split apart. In a way, it becomes it's own reality.

However, there are... Rare cases, where if a change is too great and too immediate, time will... "Break", for it, and then reconstruct into the changed future.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
*Ruka's eyes open wide when she hears the last part*

...that can happen...?

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

But as I stated, it tends to be rare... and if someone with the ability to travel through time in the first place is aware of what would have caused the rift, stopping that from happening usually tends to create a reversal effect.

But... As I stated, it is rare.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you know if there is any way I can learn more about that?

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
... To know if it has happened? *he thinks for a moment*

It is difficult to really say, as it is still a very rare occurrence. There is no absolute when it comes to it. Sometimes, anything connected to it will vanish as well. Sometimes, they might still linger, regardless of it.

Unless if one has the ability to freely move through time at such precision, it is hard to say if a future has vanished or not. ... Especially when you consider your previous statement of being in an alternate past.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
*Ruka looks a little disappointed*

I see... maybe I could work it out somehow though... maybe...

*She looks back up at Sadame*

Thank you. For sharing what you know.

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
*... a bit surprised by the thanks, as he tilts his head*

... You're welcome. I apologize that my information was not inclusive enough, for what you wish to know.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's okay. It may of given me more questions than answers... but it made some of the possibilities a little clearer. I just need to find out more about them.

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
... I see. *he nods slightly*

... I apologize if I interrupted you from figuring them out before, however.

[identity profile] voicesofspirits.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's okay. I'm glad I was able to talk to you.

[identity profile] memoryistime.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
... Ah. Well... You are welcome, then.

*bows his head slightly*
