Well, I'm officially 19 today.
It's strange to think that in one more year I'll be completely out of my teens.

*It's Ruka's 19th birthday and she had the day off work for it, so anyone can meet up with her in the park for birthday wishes and present giving!*

*Ruka allows Isabel to take her hand.*

No, it's... *She shakes her head.* ... please don't feel bad. You've had things you've needed to do, things you've had to deal with.

...I wasn't alone when it happened. I didn't have to go through it alone.

... [Isabel takes in and releases a shaky breath. But her outward expression doesn't change. It seems like she's putting a lot of effort into staying on an even keel.]

Juudai and the others were there for you, huh?

*Ruka nods.*

Juudai was there with me through the whole thing. Both he and my friends supported me afterwards. It was in no way easy but... it helped. It helped me to not to dwell to much on it and to just carry on moving forward a step at a time.

Somedays are harder than others, but knowing I have people who care for me here is helping me get through it.

[Isabel quietly swallows. She slowly remembers - she remembers right after Yusei and Rua were taken away from her, how Ruka reacted. To just try and shut herself off from everybody and not feel anything - how that had led to her being preyed on by one of the Numbers. Isabel remembers how powerless and angry she felt to be unable to help her at that time. How Ruka's reacting now couldn't be any further from what happened the last time.

Slowly, one of Isabel's hands comes up and if Ruka lets her, she lightly strokes her face and hair. There's something of a sad smile on Isabel's face.]

...you've grown up a lot, Ruka.

*She lets her stroke her face and hair. Once she hears Isabel's comment, she slowly looks up at her. A small sad, but grateful smile also appears on her face.*

Mmn. [Isabel stares at Ruka for a moment mmore - she considers grabbing hold of the girl and pulling her as close as she can, but in that moment, she knows that if she does, she's liable to never let go.

So, instead, she lets her hand drift back downwards to her side.]

...hey. It's...it's still your birthday, so...what do you say we go get some dinner or something?

*Ruka's smile grows a bit more cheerful as she hears Isabel suggest that.*
