*Ruka hurried to Juudai's office as quickly as she could, clutching onto Tarou's heavy bag as lot of things raced through her mind. Juudai wasn't usually as serious as this unless something was going on.

As she reached Juudai's office door, she knocked politely on it. She quickly heard Juudai's response on the other side, telling her to come in, which she did straight away.*

I came as quickly as I could.

*Juudai was stood in front of his desk waiting for her. He gave her a small nod*

That's alright. We're just waiting on someone else, then we can begin.

*soon enough, someone else knocks at the door-- though the urgency of the sound of it is very telling that it's only a courtesy*

*Upon hearing it, Juudai very quickly replies to it with equal urgency.*

Come in!

*coming right in. Spots Ruka, and. Gives an awkward little wave, before making a gesture outside the door and closing it behind them.*

Full disclosure, someone else is here, but they'd like to stay hidden for the moment. Even though at this point it's a little much. Still, something important came up?

*Juudai gives him a nod, before turning to Ruka.*

Can you show us what you found?

*Ruka walks over to the desk in the room and places Tarou's bag onto it, still not sure exactly what was going on.*

Tarou-san entrusted his bag of research to me to look after and said I was free to look through it, but when I did... well... I found these.

*She pulls out what appears to be plans of exorcism circles and lays them out on top of the bag. She then pulls out some marked stones and places them amongst the plans.*

I was already worried that maybe he'd got himself mixed up in something dangerous, but when I saw these, they just set of alarm bells in my head. They don't seem like just average research... I feel like they have a purpose for something?

*sighing, rubbing their head a bit*

Yeah, they sure have a purpose. But I was sorta hoping after this long, he'd have given up on the whole thing.

Sorry you've gone and gotten tied up with this. But you were right to bring it up.

The truth is... we've been keeping tabs on him for quite a while now for a very good reason.

What reason? What's going on? Is he really caught up in something dangerous?

Well, multiple reasons.

One, we think-- or I guess know now-- he's planning on a big exorcism thing, using a specific person as a scapegoat reason. That specific person may be basically his alternate self? That one is a bit more fuzzy, but all evidence is pointing towards it--

Well, the end of it is: the reason he's using a scapegoat is because he's trying to do an exorcism on himself, we think, but doesn't want to clue in the thing he's exorcising.

Do you remember how yours and the others signers marks kept being set off randomly? He was the one setting them off.

As for how... well...
...the thing he's trying to exorcise from himself... is an Earthbound God.

*The moment she hears the word 'Earthbound God', Ruka looks at both of them in shock, covering her mouth.*

An... but...
... h-how? Why an Earthbound God?
And... he's planning to exorcise it?

The "how" is still a big question. But... Yeah. I mean, before now, it was mostly a guess that he was planning it, but this seems like a confirmation.

And I'd also guess he was hoping someone would catch onto it, so he probably isn't too thrilled about how this turned out, either.

Yeah, since he gave you this bag and told you that you could freely look through it, I feel he's left these plans in on purpose in the hopes that you'd catch onto it and show it to others.

So... he wants us to do something about this?

But... what can we do? How do we stop him with that Earthbound God watching his every move?

Best I can think, he might be hoping we'll catch him in the act and intervene before things get too far.

Worst case scenario, he might be hoping someone will stop him with excessive force.

Extreme worse situation, a purple whale is gonna be eating a bunch of souls, and he probably isn't gonna have a say in it.

Obviously worst case and extreme worst case we don't want, so we may have to find a way to intervene, but we also want to try and limit any damage to Tarou himself.

In the end he's not a bad person, just someone in a bad situation and it's obvious he wants someone to step in here.

It's just dealing with the Earthbound God that's the tricky part. If only we had a way to somehow... seal it away somewhere... and keep both Tarou, and what might be his alternate self, safe.

Hm... *Ruka looks down at the desk, before picking up one of the marked stones.*

... do you think these stones could help us somehow?

*taking a look at the stones*

I'm no expert in this stuff, but there was probably a point to them, right? Given that he handed them off on purpose, and given the-- sheer size of this circle, he might've kept them with you to make sure you'd be fine?

Cause we've got evidence he's been setting this up to be almost city wide, possibly.

*She moves the stone she's holding around in her hand.*

I wonder if they can act as a barrier somehow. Like stopping what he's trying to do from activating all over the city and instead keeping it confined to the area he's in specifically?

Maybe, but if that's the case, we might need to get these things around the city, quickly.

Which ironically, isn't too tall of an order with my associates help. But that's if this is really the case.

Well, it's all we really have to go on at the moment and I'll take anything that might give us some kind of advantage.

I say we set the stones up around the city and hope they work this way.

Yeah. Otherwise, we gotta track this guy down before he does something stupid. Or he gets extra possessed.

You mind if I take most of the stones in that case? I'd say you should probably try to hand one off to the possible scapegoat, but I think my "friend" and I can get these around the city faster, if this works.

*Juudai takes the stone that Ruka had in her hand.*

I'll try and see if I can get this one to the possible scapegoat, while you and your associate get the rest around the city. With any luck this will give us some kind of edge.
